Medical Receptionist

Join our specialist team at Canterbury Breastcare.
Canterbury
  • Specialist breast care
  • Permanent part-time
  • NZ's leading radiology
He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role

Canterbury Breastcare (CBC) is a centre that offers a uniquely supportive environment where patients receive a complete health care service under one roof. We combine the skills of a range of specialists and health professionals who are committed entirely to breast health care — from screening and diagnostic mammography to the integrated management of breast problems. Canterbury Breastcare is a joint venture with Pacific Radiology and specialised breast surgeons.

The Medical Receptionist role provides a frontline reception service that contributes positively to the company's image by providing a quality and timely service to patients, referrers, funders, and internal staff, as well as the successful coordination and booking of patient appointments. This is a permanent part-time position (0.85 FTE), approximately 34 hours per week.

As the first point of contact for patients, you will ensure every person who walks through our doors or calls our clinic feels welcomed, supported, and informed. You will ensure all parties interacting with Canterbury Breastcare are dealt with in a warm and empathetic manner, welcoming patients, callers and others while determining and fulfilling their needs, and liaising with clinical staff to ensure appointments run to schedule.

You will schedule and book appointments as per booking protocols, communicate with patients all relevant information regarding their specific examination including any preparation requirements, accurately input information into the radiology information system (RIS), and maintain accurate records of patient medical and personal details. You will identify the correct funding pathway and where applicable adhere to ACC funding protocols, and manage applications for funding as required, for example Southern Cross.

  • NCEA Level 3 or other tertiary qualification.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment is an advantage.
  • A genuine empathy for patients, particularly those attending appointments in a sensitive healthcare context.
